The Molyneux concealed weephole

New from L.B. Plastics Ltd., Molyneux concealed weepholes provide the perfect solution for cavity wall structures. Available in a range of colour options, the triangular shape of Molyneux weepholes optimises their performance whilst ensuring they are visibly unobtrusive.

With cavity wall constructions, steps must be taken to ensure no moisture reaches the buildings' inner leaf. Weepholes are required:-

• over external lintels
• where cavity trays are used
• at ground floor slab level
• to release pressure in ground-supporting walls.

NHBC recommendations require at least two weepholes above each opening and at intervals no greater than 450mm.

Weephole extensions

The weephole extension is a simple push-fit into the back of a standard Molyneux concealed weephole. It can provide an additional 25mm length but can be cut on site along one of its grooves to reduce the length to 10mm, 15mm or 20mm.

It should be used in the following circumstances:

• whenever the thickness of the outer wall leaf is greater than 100mm
• whenever the outlet of the Weephole is brough forward from the outside face of the wall to allow for the thickness of a rendered finish.

Installation instructions

	Before placing the weephole in position, use a trowel to clear surplus mortar so that the underside of the weephole can be in direct contact with the surface of the DPC
	Place the weephole in position, ensuring that the drip flange butts the face of the brickwork
	Bed the next brick, then mortar the perpendicular joint ensuring that the outlet of the weephole remains unobstructed
