MANSE MASTERDOR SETS NEW TREND FOR NEWBUILD SOCIAL HOUSING

MANSE MASTERDOR SETS NEW TREND FOR NEWBUILD SOCIAL HOUSING

23 Jul 2009

In a move away from the traditional cottage styling, a more minimalist styled black door has been chosen for a newbuild social housing development in North Yorkshire.

According to leading social housing door makers, Manse Masterdor, the installation, in an infill development on Chain Lane in Knaresborough, reflects a growing trend in social housing style, in line with eco development, and is one which few suppliers are currently equipped to meet.

The timber engineered, made to measure door-set, with grey outerframes and black door blades, are manufactured by Manse Masterdor, part of the Lichfield Group of Companies.

Manse Masterdor director Mike Hudson explains: “The trend towards modern code level three and above homes has impacted on the architectural style of the new homes currently being built by social housing providers.  But the door industry has largely failed to keep up with the style changes, restricting the options for specifiers looking for modern and sympathetic door styles.

“In response, we have created a range of contemporary door styles of which the Knaresborough installations are one example.  The reaction of architects in the newbuild sector has been tremendous, and the demand for these high-performance products is growing all the time.”

Manse Masterdor ltd provides the largest range of Secured by Design door-sets on the market.  Masterdors exceed PAS23/24 BSi tests, meet the requirements of Part M of the building regulations, and fire-check versions have also been successfully tested to BS476 Part 22.  The Masterdor door set consistently achieves the highest exposure category in testing, showing it is one of the most airtight door sets on the market.
